Welcome from the Head of the Sixth Form
I am very pleased to welcome you to the Sixth Form area of the West Somerset Community College website.
The Sixth Form is proud of its long tradition of excellence in the education of the young people of this area. The Sixth Form has excellent facilities, in the Sixth Form Student Centre there is a large open-plan study area with state of the art computers and administrative assistance on hand to support students when necessary. There is also a Sixth Form Common Room that is available for students to relax during break and lunch times. We are thrilled to be opening our new £5.5 million Skills & Enterprise Centre, which will be an outstanding facility for our expanding vocational provision.
As well as this, the College has Technology College Status with a Rural Dimension and this has resulted in excellent accommodation for Science, Design, Maths and ICT. Furthermore, an excellent English and Media Block adds to the high quality resources that are available to all Sixth Formers.
To meet the demands of the 21st Century, young people need to be good learners, to have confidence, independence and a sense of responsibility. All these are fostered in our Sixth Form in a community atmosphere that brings out the best in our students and enables them to reach their full potential.
This is a very exciting time in the development of the Sixth Form at West Somerset Community College.
